Of course I didn't just shoot those, but also lots of the normal traffic mainly in 1990 at Anchorage Int'l Airport (in 1998 unfortunately the weather was mostly bad, so I didn't spend any time at the end of the runway there) - below you can find these photos as well.

One of the best if not the best place to still find those beautiful old propliners in daily service is Alaska, where they transport vital supplies to outlying communities. I have been there twice so far, once in 1990 and again in 1998. In this album you will find an overview of the various operators of these airliners I found then - some have vanished in the time between the two trips while others have entered the market as newcomers or subsidiaries of existing airlines. It is a real treat to see these old crafts, since they aren't often in use. It is impossible to see them as part of modern fleets, as part of the kind of companies offering last minute deals and cheap airline tickets. These planes are treasures - some old, some new, just a few still in use. Each one is a unique individual to the true aviation fan!

I would like to once again thank all the people who escorted me out on their ramps or even let me check out the flightdeck of one of their airplanes; without them it would not have been possible to capture all those nice birds on film. Thanks guys - I'll be back!

Photos of all the non-propliners that I've shot up north can be found in this album.
